Built-in Protection for Back to Normal
Elevating the standard of passenger
care and well-being
AirShield is a patent-pending, simple component that is installed over the top of existing passenger air vents, where it re-purposes purified air from the aircraft's HEPA filtration systems to create protective air barriers around and in-between each passenger in an airplane cabin.
Market-Ready
Airshield has undergone intensive design engineering & on-wing testing with several global airlines. FAA certification is expected in Q2 2022
Maximum Impact,
Minimum Modifications
Airshield’s easy-to-install design extends creates breathing zones that maximize the HEPA filtration system, without the need for airframe modifications and no special tools required for installation.
Visual Cue
for Peace of Mind
While many of the onboard systems that promote health and well in the cabin are not always visible, Airshield’s design creates a visual cue for the customer to let them know it is installed and working, establishing a higher level of comfort.
Innovating Confident
Returns to Flight
Airshield reinforces the airlines commitment to passenger and crew well-being, establishing a competitive advantage for those who use it.

FAQs
-
Airshield is a cabin-air well-being device that creates a protective air barrier around and in-between each passenger in an airplane cabin.
-
AirShield adapts the aircraft cabin air system to create protective air barriers around and in-between passengers. The design of AirShield's nozzles are inspired the geometry of industrial air-knives. AirShield's nozzle-tips harness the 'bernoulli principle,' drawing in the surrounding cabin air and the doubling the resulting airflow.
-
AirShield was designed specifically for narrow-body aircraft. Further testing and development would be required to adapt the design of AirShield to wide-body aircraft.
-
Airshield can be installed in as little as two minutes. Installation requires the initial opening and positioning of the gaspers, then the AirShield is located and secured with one mechanical fixing and a secondary surface-to-surface fixing using industrial velcro that also helps to seal it to the gasper panel.
-
No. AirShield fits directly over the top of the existing passenger service unit, augmenting the air-flow after it has been expelled from the gaspers. It does not create a greater airflow restriction than the gaspers and no modifications to the OEM HVAC system are required.
-
Yes. Teague conducted an analysis to better understand the movement of airborne particles in an airplane cabin. A320 and B737 airflow environments were recreated using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Full-scale aircraft cabin fog tests using genuine aircraft parts were also conducted over a period of months. Several tier-1 airline partners provided our team access to their aircraft to test the installation and efficacy with on-wing fog tests.
-
Yes. CFD simulations and fog tests indicate that the barriers created by AirShield are effective in preventing transmission of respiratory droplets from row-to-row, and between neighboring passengers.
-
Yes. Our CFD simulations evidence improvements in two key transmission vectors: the reduction of shared particles and the acceleration of purging of exhaled respiratory droplets.
-
AirShield effects a 76% reduction in shared air particles between passengers and increases the rate of purging exhaled droplets by 230%
-
Unlike a passenger air-vent, AirShield has been designed to blow around and in-between passengers rather than directly on them. In this respect, AirShield will not affect the passenger experience while seated. AirShield's air-curtain maintains its shape and integrity to approximately chest height, which means that its effects will not be felt on the passengers legs.
-
The noise of a passenger air-vent on-full is around 62db, compared to an air-vent with AirShield at 59db. This means that AirShield is actually about half as loud as an open gasper.
-
No. the purpose of AirShield is to create an effective yet un-invasive separation between passengers that every passenger can rely on regardless of individual preference. The guarantee that passengers cannot switch this off at will is key to delivering peace of mind to all.
-
Results vary based on testing conditions. We agree with statements that an aircraft cabin offers a safe environment. Our analysis proves that the safety of the cabin environment could be further improved—from good-to-great—with the addition of AirShield. Our findings here are aligned with the conclusions and recommendations of numerous research studies from the past decade.

The team's initial goal was to create meaningful Covid-related innovations for the airline industry. The value of AirShield, however, goes beyond Covid-19, which is why we conducted our test without masks: to deliver a new standard of air-sanitation and passenger piece of mind for the future, creating an additional line of defense against any viral transmission—from coronavirus to the common cold.

Pexco Aerospace is gearing up for global distribution. AirShield is now actively undergoing certification. It is currently targeted to be FAA certified for flight in Q2 2022.
-
AirShield could be applicable in a variety of social spaces, from gyms and workspaces to retail and restaurants. The future of air-conditioning and circulation have a role to play in creating sanitary and safe environments across the globe, it's something we're exploring.
“AirShield offers an additional line of defense in managing the spread of viruses in air-travel, whether that be something as serious as coronavirus or as simple as the common cold.”
